NIVOTEC regards environmental protection as an integral part of its business and undertakes to conduct its activities in a manner that prevents pollution and minimises our impact on the environment.

In 2007, NIVOTEC initiated a more formal apporach by enrolling in the BS8555 Standard, as part of the STEM Project.

BS 8555 is a new British Standard that has been designed with small to medium-sized businesses specifically in mind. It breaks down the process of gaining ISO 14001 or EMAS into six clear steps. It provides an SME with a phased approach to implementing an EMS and gives better control over the process. BS 8555 details six clear phases and provides an organization with clear milestones by which they can demonstrate their achievements to their customers both internally and externally.
Environmental issues are very much to the fore across all sectors of industry and commerce, with new legislation being introduced both by local Government and the European Union.

An Environmental Management System (EMS) is a management tool that enables a business or organisation to assess and control the environmental impact of its activities, products and services.

In March 2007, NIVOTEC achieved BS8555 Phase 3. and started the implementation of its first Environmental Management System.
